We know our customers feel the most comfortable leaving their precious vehicles in our capable hands, when they know exactly what work we’re going to perform.
There are several things that you should be aware of, pre-installation. Make sure that you understand the laws in your area around tinting, as they differ and are very specific about the degree of tinting that falls within the parameters of the local law. This may be referred to as the Visible Light Transmittance. You will also want to be cognizant of the different qualities of window film available on the market, so that you know exactly what materials are being adhered to your car. There are ceramic based films and metallic based films, both with their own particular qualities.
During installation the temperature outside should be between 40 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Any hotter and the film will not stay in place after application. Any colder and the film won’t apply properly to begin with. Your car will need to be out of direct sunlight, we complete all work onsite within our facility.
We want to steer clear of any dust, which can get in the way of a clean application and is difficult to maneuver around after installation. Cleaning the windows on the outside is not enough. They need to be cleaned on the inside as well.
In order to make sure that your windows have the most optimal fit, there are two techniques used on the film. These are pre-fitting and heat shrinking. We like to double check our work in every capacity. This means there are two fittings—rough and final.
You probably also assume that lubrication is a necessity when tinting windows. You are correct. It is absolutely essential in every step of the process, especially when we’re applying the adhesive side of the film. We may refer to a “reverse roll”. This is one of our many techniques that basically eliminates creasing and bubbling when we adhere the tint onto the glass. As long as the area is properly lubricated and we work our way from the middle to the outer edge of the window, the likelihood is slim to none that any bubbling or creasing would occur.
We manage your vehicle this far and then recommend a 48 hours before manipulating the windows in any way. This is because rolling them up or down before the film has set can detract from hours of work. Tip for new owners of these tinted windows- avoid cleaners with ammonia at all cost.
